And The Oscar For Best Style Goes To…

JLFoscar

At last night’s Oscars, the stars were out in full force, but a few especially caught my eye. Jennifer Hudson, Sandra Bulluck, Charlize Theron, Stacy Keibler, and First Lady Michelle Obama took home my award for best dressed.

Jennifer Hudson

jenniferhudsonJennifer Hudson pulled out all the stops in this gorgeous blue Roberto Cavalli Couture gown,
Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, Jimmy Choo clutch and, Sutra jewelry. Metallic was a big trend this year on the red carpet and J-Hud totally rocked it!

Sandra Bullock

sandrabullockActress Sandra Bullock showed off her svelte figure in a sexy Elie Saab dress and accessorized it perfectly with a Daniel Swarovski clutch. Extra points for the sleek and sophisticated ‘do, Sandra. Tres chic.

Stacy Keibler

stacykeiblerActress Stacy Keibler continued the metallic reign with this stunning Naeem Khan dress, complete with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. I’m loving this super flattering neckline and retro hair combo. Bravo Stacy!

Charlize Theron

charlizetheronActress Charlize Theron was breathtaking in a winter white Christian Dior Haute Couture dress, Roger Vivier shoes, and Harry Winston jewelry. This silhouette is divine and she rocks a cropped hairstyle like no other.

First Lady Michelle Obama

flotusMichelle surprised everyone by presenting for Best Picture (Argo!) last night while wearing Naeem Khan. Backstory on this look: Michelle wore this dress earlier in the day to host the Governor’s Ball in Washington and then later was televised presenting the Oscar. Clearly no costume change was necessary! Michelle always bring her A-game.

And the Honorary Style Winner is:

Quvenzhané Wallis!

quvenzhanewallisThis 9-year-old starlet made history for being the youngest person to be nominated for Best Actress for her role in Beasts of the Southern Wild. Quvenzhané has stolen my heart with her vivacious personality (she did a fist pump when her name was called during the show) and her tremendous talent! Last night she rocked a beautiful blue dress accompanied by her favorite accessory, an adorable pony purse. It was also recently reported that Quvenzhané  will star in Annie. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store in the future!

My Timo Weiland Fall 2013 Review on Huffington Post

timoweiland

Timo Weiland’s Tough Girl

For Fall 2013, Timo Weiland turned up the edge with masculine silhouettes and a too-cool-to-care slouchy fit. This girl was the antithesis of the fitted feminine frocks of last Spring and the flirty ensembles of the previous Fall. In oversized coats with shearling lapels and boxy leather jackets, there was an underlying sex appeal present. Quite alluring. Sometimes less is more, and this rang true in the cleanness and lack of fussy add-ons. There was a bit of updated grunge thrown into the mix, evident in the deep forest greens, navys and plaids. Subtle details were cleverly incorporated, from the sexy criss-cross tops to the sweatshirts with one sleeve done in leather. This will sure be a must have for cool girls everywhere. Myself included.

Beautiful embroidery was alive and well towards the end of the lineup, as seen on a couple of jackets and matching skirts. There was a throwback girly moment with pretty camisoles worn under sheer shirts. And who could forget the gorgeous fringe earrings the complimented the evening looks? Tres chic. (Read more here.)

My Tracy Reese Fall 2013 Review on Huffington Post

tracyreese

Tracy Reese Goes New York

You can’t leave a Tracy Reese show in a bad mood. Season after season, it continues to be the most cheerful ticket in town. For Fall 2013, Reese was feeling girly, but her girl also likes to mix it up with a bit of NYC edge. There was a structured moto jacket paired with a gold metallic dress, a leather shirt under a lace detailed coat. A healthy amount of print was present, which you can always count of Reese to deliver. Standouts included a bold red plaid (the It color for Fall), cool sorbet stripes and lots of leopard, but not just any leopard. Reese’s girl likes to add hints of primary hues, which definitely ups wow factor.

There was a bit of retro flair, as seen on cat eye shades and pill box/beanie hybrid toppers. These are clever and easy additions that won’t overwhelm a look. Standout looks this season: a sleek pleated leather skirt paired with a red plaid jacket, a sheer paneled bodycon mini, the aforementioned lace car coat an leather shirt, and a lime green coat with leather details.
