JOY LOVES FASHION

So, yesterday was pretty epic! I was asked to participate in a Good Morning America special fashion segment with Kerry Washington, Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo and The Limited head of design Elliot Staples to celebrate the new Scandal Collection!  The trio teamed up to design a 42-piece offering inspired by Olivia Pope. We had such a great time backstage and on set, had to share this recap with you! (If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already seen some of these pics: )

I am in LOVE with the entire collection, esp the look I rocked: a super chic coat, polished blush pink dress and vintage-esque leather gloves. Perfect outfit. Check out more pics below as well as a video of the segment.

Monday morning: 5am at Good Morning American studios, Time Square

In the green room with the lovely Fatima.

Here  I am after clipping in my CurlSistas Hair extensions in the Adaeze Kinky Curl (2 bundles in 16 + 18in)! My natural textured hair line debuts next month!! There will be 3 textures, the Chi-Chi loose curl, Chima tight curl and Adaeze kinky curl. Obi and I named them Nigerian names as a nod to our culture : ) Can’t wait till this is released next month!

Kerry is such a sweetheart. We had some time to kill before going on set and ended up chatting about everything from randomly meeting about 14 years ago in a Barnes + Noble in Paramus, NJ, Nigerian culture/names (Fun fact, Kerry speaks some Igbo.) and she also loves my new hair collection! Awesome : )

Selfie time w/ the crew backstage : ) Lyn Paolo, (costume designer for Scandal) is such an inspiration. She’s part of the reason we fall in love with the wardrobe, episode after episode! Both her and Kerry share ideas on the show’s looks.

The amount of time, dedication and passion that Kerry, Lyn and Elliot put into this collection was truly remarkable. It is the best tv-inspired collabo I’ve seen. Perfectly polished and incredibly wearble. And those prices? Genius.

You guys know I love bold, standout pieces but one of the most important items in my closet are my crisp white shirts. A white shirt is like a blank canvas: it gives you the ability to create any outfit, all while looking perfectly polished. A white shirt has definitely saved me many times when I had no idea what to wear, like yesterday when I attended the famed EveryDay People Brunch in collaboration with Dark + Lovely. I had 10 minuted to get dressed and literally threw this look together!
