Celeb Nail Artist Naomi Yasuda does my nails!

Hi Fab Friends!

Yesterday, I had the amazing opportunity to have super talented celeb nail artist Naomi Yasuda do my nails! Japanese born Naomi has been a nail artist for 9 years and studied at Chunichi Beauty College in Nagoya, Japan, where she is from.  Naomi has graced the hands of Lady Gaga, Amanda Lepore, Alicia Keys, Cassie, Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne, Keri Hilson Kim Catrall (for Sex and the City 2), FENDI, Chanel, NYLON, Vogue, Elle Magazine- the list goes on!

Her salon, Hello Beautiful, is just a few blocks away from my apt in Brooklyn! I was super excited and have admired her work for some time. I love her creativity and ability to always think outside the box. Just what I needed! We had a great time and I love how my nails came out. The best part is that the nail art (made with Calgel) lasts up to a month!Fabulous! I am officially a regular : ) Thanks, Naomi!

I love bows and wanted to go with colorful design that popped!

I had a fun idea for Naomi to add Japanese characters to the design. On above middle finger- she wrote my name. And below, on my pinky, she wrote my boyfriend’s name: Obi. How Cute!

Here’s more of Naomi’s brilliant designs:

Can’t wait till next time : ) Thanks Naomi!

“Savage Beauty” Alexander McQueen’s fascinating exhibit at the MET

Hi Fab Friends!

To be in the presence of true genius is amazing. Today, I had the great fortune of attending the MET’s Savage Beauty-Alexander McQueen’s exhibit. My fab friend, celeb stylist Carmegie Dupuy accompanied me on the trip. It was truly breathtaking. Many times I found myself speechless and simply in awe of the art and beauty in front of me. The exhibit spanned through McQueen’s Central St. Martin post graduate collection in 1992 (which was purchased entirely by the late Isabella Blow) to his final runway presentation after his death in February 2010. Some of the collections shown were from his time as chief designer for Givenchy from 96-01.

While taking in the magnificent exhibit, I copied down inspirational quotes that caught my eye. Along with these quotes, I have complied images and videos from the exhibit. Enjoy and share your thoughts! : ) Long live McQueen!

“I spent a long time learning how to construct clothes, which is important to do before you can deconstruct them”

“It is important to look at death because it is apart of life. It is a sad thing, melancholy but romantic at the same time”

“For me what I do is an artistic expression which is channeled through me. Fashion is just the medium.”

“It’s the ugly things I notice more, because other people tend to ignore the ugly things.”

“I oscillate between life and death, happiness and sadness, good and evil.”

Carmegie and I taking in the last Gallery of the exhibit, “Plato’s Atlantis”

McQueen was an avid scuba diver and much of his inspiration for “Planto’s Atlantis” was drawn from his time spent diving in the Maldives.
