Brandy Concert at Best Buy Theater

Last night, I attended Brandy‘s sold out NYC concert at Best Buy Theater in celebration of her new album Two Eleven (out today)! It was wonderful! She’s back like she never left. On a particularly rainy Monday night, Wayman, Kirk and I headed to the theater via subway. Once there, we snapped pics and enjoyed some drinks, while waiting for the show to begin. Hal Linton opened, followed by native New Yorker Bridget Kelly, who took to the stage to perform “Seek and Destroy”, “In The Morning” and “Special Delivery”, off her Every Girl EP. You may remember Bridget from Jay-Z’s concerts, when she joined him for his hit “Empire State of Mind”. Bridget was amazing! She is a wonderful performer and you really feel every ounce of her emotion. She’s on my radar!

After Bridget’s performance, Brandy hit the stage with a burst of energy and opened with “What About Us?”. The crowd went bananas!! Other throwback hits included: “Baby”, “I Wanna Be Down”, “Have You Ever?”, “Almost Doesn’t Count”, “Full Moon” and my all-time fav, “Sittin’ Up In My Room”. Then Brandy surprised us with a  tribute to her late idol Whitney Houston with a melody of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”, “How Will I Know?” and “I’m Your Baby Tonight”.

During a short break, singer Luke James took to the stage with a soulful rendition of “I Want You”. Completely blown away!

Brandy returned and this time performed singles “Put It Down” and “Wildest Dreams”, from her new album Two Eleven!

It was a triumphant return for Brandy who has always been one of my favs. What’s so amazing about her is that I’ve literally grown up from listening to her songs. I remember first hearing “I Wanna Be Down” in elementary school, “Sitting Up In My Room” in high school and “Full Moon” in college! I got the chance to meet Brandy this past January at ESSENCE while she was did promo with The Game cast. We literally came face-to-face as I exited the elevator! We chatted and she was so sweet and complimented my style, turban and nail art! Love her!

Go out and buy her album, Two Eleven today! Support good music : ) I am sure I’ll have it on repeat for the two weeks!

What To Wear To Brandy’s Concert (feat. J Brand Jeans)

Tomorrow I am attending Brandy’s NYC concert ahead of the October 16th release of her album, Two Eleven. To celebrate, I created 3 style inspirations using my favorite jeans of late: J Brand’s Burgundy 811 coated denim! Burgundy is the hottest color of the season and I think jeans are a wonderful way to showcase the trend. This denim also has a leather-like coating that I’m obsessed with! Underneath each look I included a section where you can shop for your fav items. There are also lower priced versions included! Let’s get started!

Look #1: Lusting for Leather

In this look, I combined a Rick Owens leather jacket and Valentino Rockstud boots for an upgraded edgy vibe. Add some gold arm candy, a creme The Row clutch and wine lip to complete the ensemble!

Rick Owens leather jacket, $967.44 (was $3,225)

T by Alexander Wang tank, $95

J Brand jeans, $336

Valentino Rockstud boots, $1,340

Betsey Johnson gold hoops, $20

The Row clutch, $5,950

House of Harlow 1960 Aztec bangle, $80

ASOS Cross bangle, $14

Lara Bohinc bracelet, $1,276

Michael Kors watch, $225

Armani lipstick, $30

Julie Hewett eyeliner, $15

Shop These and Additional Items below!

Look #2: Stylish Sophisticate

A tailored Rag & Bone ombre herringbone jacket and Acne Pistol boots gives this look polish, while leaving room for unique flair. A artsy graphic tee by Collective + Bob Carlos Clarke and a pair of elephant earrings adds fun and whimsy. I like the play of mixed metals for jewelry. It gives the look added texture and intrigue : ).

Rag & Bone jacket, $650

Collective + Bob Carlos Clarke tee, $78 (was $112)

J Brand jeans, $336

Acne Pistol boots, $564

Prada Crossbody bag, $380

Sequin Elephant earrings, $28

Urban Outfitters Brooklyn necklace, $20

Juicy Couture Crown ID necklace, $68

Look #3: She’s a Great Sport

Concert looks are all about being chic…and comfortable!  I love how this look embodies both. I mixed a grey varsity jacket with Alexander Wang Astrid boots and a matching grey Tory Burch bag, for a cool monochromatic feel. Grey is such a beautiful shade that works for the entire year, day or night. It’s my favorite color to wear, by far! A playful name necklace, bullet earrings by Tom Binns and an art deco CC Skye ring finishes up this sporty look.

Ashley Varsity jacket, $35

J Brand jeans, $336

Alexander Wang Astrid cutout booties, $450

Christie Martin necklace, $58

Tom Binns earrings, $99

CC Skye ring, $110

Tory Burch bag, $525

Mango belt, $50

MAC lipstick, $15

China Glaze nail polish, $6 (was $8)

What’s your favorite look?

Stay tuned for my review of Brandy’s concert on Tuesday!
