They say the early bird catches the worm..! I woke up this morning at 6:00am and this wonderful news hit my Insta feed: Lupita Nyong’o on the cover of Vogue! Amazing!!! So excited for our girl. First an Oscar winning role, then the face of Lancome and now this! What a tremendous year indeed! I’m so proud of her. She has defied the odds in many ways: as a new actress, as a women of color, as a dark skin and natural hair’d woman of color. Watching her success truly makes me believe anything is possible. Anything. What an inspiration. Dream Big, joyettes!

Sometimes just a lil peek is enough. That was exactly my idea for the 3rd and final installment of ‘How To Wear’ #croptops. Here, I paired a super cute polka dot crop top with a denim-look bomber jacket and punched-up purple pants. The result was a casual-cool look that works perfectly for the weekend either for an afternoon brunch or daytime event. What do you think? I used to have the most annoying time finding a good fitting pair due to my long and curvy shape, but it seems Lafayette 148 does the trick!

[How To Wear] a Crop Top w/ High Waist Skirt

Also known as the ‘faux crop’

I switched up gears from Crop Top look #1 to bring you what I fondly call the ‘faux crop’– where your top has the illusion of a full-on crop, without having to show much skin and suck in! I took a Signorelli top and cut it where it reached just above my high waist skirt- and viola! A sexy day-to-night look. This look is super flattering since you can easily hide problem areas while flaunting your the hourglass a high waisted skirt naturally gives you. A win-win, my dears!
