Its a Fashion War!

Hi Fabulous Friends!

Army and military are fab trends and what better than Vintage army and military!!! While shopping at the Hells Kitchen Flea Market this weekend (special thanks to my roomie Katherine for this store info) I found an awesome 1960’s vintage army jacket from the Vietnam War!! How amazing!!! And it was only $10!

And a couple days later, at another vintage store on the Lower East Side, I found this vintage military hat, also from the ’60s!! I absolutely love this-its $65 (a bit pricey for vintage) but I LOVE it so I am thinking of going back for it!!

Perfect for a laid back casual look!! But sooo much cooler : )

What are some of your fav army/military pieces?

What people are saying about my Fab Jewelry Organization System!

Hi Fabulous Friends!

Back in February of this year I did a blog post on my amazing jewelry organization system that I have been using for some time. You can see the post HERE and the picture is above. It’s fabulous for many reasons: it keeps your jewelry organized, saves it from getting tangled and/or broken, and it’s completely visible so you can see exactly what you need at any given time! Especially when you are in a rush getting ready, as we all are!!

I have received an amazing amount of feedback from this post which has been awesome! I love sharing my ideas with you! Yesterday, I received a note from one of my biggest fans, Trina Diamond-Raye.

She wrote:

Hi Joy,

As I decided to do some winter cleaning and giving away/ throwing items away…I remembered this blog. I just wanted to say that I used your lovely idea to organize my jewelry and omg…got so many compliments on it! I’m going to send you the pictures to share on your blog ; ). Thanks, and keep doing your thing! oxoxoxo

Here are the pics she sent me:

“Finally, I can see all my accessories!”

“I bought these stackable cases from Bed Bath and Beyond. Put all my stackable bangles in it by color, since I wear these the most.”

“I’m not quite done yet, but I hang my hook earrings on this message/picture board so that I can see them. And for some that can’t hook, I useĀ  safety pins and loop the earrings through them. Glad I can see everything now! Makes it sooo much easier!!! Thanks!!!!

Wow! Thanks so much for your fab comment and pics, Trina! I am glad my idea has been of help to so many people! I love hearing your feedback! Stay tuned for more How To’s and DIYs!

DIY Fall Floral Booties: Pics and Video!

Hi Fabulous Friends!

I have been asked by many how I customized the floral booties I wore to New York Fashion Week last month. I am excited to bring you my first DIY video and pics!

These boots are so fabulous and also easy to do! You just need 3 things: plain shoes, small flowers and a glue gun. You start by putting a dot of glue on each flower and then you place on the shoe. The key with achieving the “plethora of flowers” looks comes from overlapping the flowers slightly as you place them. I started from the top and went down to the bottom, overlapping as I went. Since you are using a hot glue gun, the glue dries quickly! So no need to wait forever to wear. I customized these shoes on the morning of a fashion week show and wore them later that day!

The day I wore these shoes I was photographed by New York Magazine’s “The Cut” and voted one of the most stylish people of the day! Here’s the pic:

Let me know what you think!

Can’t wait to bring you my next DIY video and pics!!
