Behind the Scenes as I style Obvious Magazine’s May Issue!

Hi Fabulous Friends!

It’s been a busy and great week- My latest spread for Fashizblack Magazine was released last week and it is an ode to the “African Queen”, while mixing in a fun contemporary look! And this past weekend I styled a story for Obvious Magazine’s upcoming May issue. The theme was “Neutrals” and it was great to work with such a beautiful/understated color: I love how nude colors are so gorgeous in the most delicate way. Also, everyone looks great in neutral colors, so this shoot shows fabulous ways to incorporate nudes into your wardrobe for spring! Here are some behind the scenes pics : )

“ADAEZE”: African Queen in Fashizblack Magazine

Hi Fabulous Friends!

I am excited to share with you the latest spread I styled for the French edition of  Fashizblack Magazine’s April/May issue titled: “ADAEZE”. It was a gorgeous take on traditional and contemporary African fashion. And I also love that they used my name, Adaeze, for the story. The name “Adaeze” means “daughter of a king” in the Nigerian language of Igbo. How fab and regal!

I collaborated with photographer MG Oania, makeup artist Gayle Carbajal, hair stylist Myki, model Geli and my assistant Trenton Dallas. We used the beautiful H and M art gallery in Harlem for our location.

Special thanks to Fashizblack Magazine, Mercura Eyewear, Jewel by Lisa, Tory Burch, L.A.M.B and Anne Woodman.

Constance White Named Editor-in-Chief of ESSENCE Magazine!!!

Hi Fabulous Friends!

I have great news to share with you all! My boss/mentor, veteran fashion journalist and style expert Constance White has been named the new Editor-in-Chief of ESSENCE magazine. The news broke today and I couldn’t be more excited for her! Constance is a former style reporter for The New York Times and Style director of eBay. She began her full-time journalism career at Ms. magazine and WWD, before going on to serve as executive fashion editor of Elle magazine (the first African American to hold an executive editorial position there) and news anchor for FullFrontal Fashion, (one of my favorite tv shows). Constance appears regularly on NBC’s LXTV, The Today Show and Dr. Oz. She also consults with FirstComesFashion.com.

I am very happy for both Constance and for the future of ESSENCE Magazine, which in my opinion, is the most popular publication for African American women. With Constance’s expertise in fashion and journalism, this is sure to be a perfect match! Here’s what Constance had to say about the fab news:

“I myself have been a reader and a fan of ESSENCE,” White said. “It’s been a guide for me throughout my life. It’s been a magazine that I’ve turned to again and

again and I’m excited to be able to serve the reader as the Editor-in-Chief of ESSENCE. Stay tuned!”

We will and can’t wait to see what’s in store! : )
