Day 1 NYFW: Biddies & Blokes White Leather Vintage Dress

For Day 1 of NYFW I decided to go with a silhouette that I have never tried before: full and semi-baby doll. Daring? Yes, but I am glad I went for it! It proved to be one of my fav looks so far.  This dress is from Brooklyn vintage store (and my new obsession), Biddies and Blokes. What attracted me to it was the beautiful leather and flirty pleats. It was also super comfortable, making it perfect for the shows and all the walking around afterwards at FNO.

My oxfords are BDG from Urban Outfitters. Flats for NYFW? Yes and Yes! They are chic and of course, super comfy. My shades are by Mercura, my ultimate staple! I truly cannot live without them : ) My headwrap is from my mom! I love incorporating my Nigerian heritage into my everyday looks. Bangles are from Biddies and Blokes. (Will post close up shots of these shortly!) This necklace is from Uganda and is made entirely of paper! I got it from the giveaway table at ESSENCE, sick!

The photo above is from one of my favorite sites: FashionBombDaily! I also occasionally contribute to their site so it was awesome to be featured!

Here are some more shots from Day 1:

This photo was captured by another fav of mine: Italian Vogue!!

I went home in between shows for a quick lunch and thought it would be fun to change necklaces! I am wearing my NOIR Keith Haring chain. (See below)

Here I am sitting front row at the Arise show! Ozwald Boateng killed it!!!

This pic was snapped by ZadenRow.

It’s always so great to chat with all the photographers at tents. It’s incredible that some of them have been shooting me since 2010! We have fun : ) I will be updating this post with new images as they come and including some fun pics of me and my friends at FNO!

Special thanks to FashionBombDaily, Italian Vogue and ZadenRow!

Insta-recap: Afro-Punk, LoveBrownSugar & Mercura Shades

Got some news! Every Monday, I’ll be rounding up my top Instagram images in a new series called “Insta-recap”. It’s a fun way to keep up with me and my adventures!

Last week, I attended the Afro-Punk Festival in Brooklyn. There was a live concert by Janelle Monae, fierce fashion venders and good food! Had a wonderful time and will definitely be back next year!

I showcased my accessory board where I keep some of my necklaces. This is a really great and easy way to organize jewelry.

While scoping out fashionistas on Instagram, I came across Luisa Fernanda Espinosa’s page (luisafere) and was so blown away by her and her son Mateo’s style that I dedicated an entire post to them : )

Fab blogger Christina Brown threw a party in honor of her site LoveBrownSugar’s 3rd year anniversary at Inglot makeup store in Chelsea. I also ran into my other blogger friend, Jessica Andrews of Glamazons Blog and together we made a blogger sandwich!

Love Christina’s ASOS dress : ) Congrats on 3 years!!

Showing off my new statement necklace and my staple layered bangles!

Today, I ran errands in my Versace for H&M leggings and TopShop sandals. I love how my blue pedicure popped with the ensemble!

Then, I headed to Doughnut Plant where they have THE BEST doughnuts!

My absolute fav is the Vanilla Bean:

Delish!!

After that, I visited my favorite sunglass designers, Mercura. While there, I tried on these black and white cat eye stunners:

What a week!

With Labor Day this weekend, I’ll be capturing all the fun on Instagram. Be sure to follow me: fashionistajoyadaeze and check in every Friday for Insta-recap!

xoxo
